Jack Reacher Printers

Who is Jack Reacher

Jack Reacher is a fictional character and the protagonist of a series of crime thriller novels by British author Lee Child. The series, which began in 1997 with “Killing Floor,” follows the character of Jack Reacher, a former military police officer who becomes a drifter and vigilante. Reacher is a tall, muscular, and highly skilled individual with a keen intellect and a talent for solving complex problems. He is also known for his strong sense of justice and willingness to use violence to protect the innocent. He is a loner, and his nomadic lifestyle takes him to various parts of the United States and other countries, where he gets involved in criminal cases and fights against corrupt individuals or organisations. The novels have been adapted into a film and a series.

I have a Jack Reacher Printer

I have a Jack Reacher printer/scanner combo. Yes, you read that correctly. What is a Jack Reacher printer/ scanner combo? To answer that question, one must look at the consumer printer market. Look at the attractive price of an inkjet printer. Often, the price is lower than $50, difficult to configure, and expensive to maintain. The cost of Canon ink refills (#ad) dramatically outweighs the cost of a new printer!

In Lee Child’s books, Jack Reacher wanders around with a toothbrush, an expired passport, and a debit card. He wears his clothes for a few days and tosses them in the trash when they are no longer clean enough to wear. His books estimate his yearly costs for new and used clothing are nearly $10,000. That number is far less than some people’s annual clothing budgets in Southern California and far more than mine. His point is that he has minimal costs other than clothing.

How does my printer end up being classified as a Jack Reacher printer? It is disposable. If the printer was not difficult to configure for network operation, a user could use it until it no longer worked and buy a new one. The cost of a new printer is less than the refills. In my case, I have a Canon MG2920. I think that it sold for around $30 in 2016. I let it run out of ink long ago and bought a Brother laser printer. Toner cartridges for Brother printers are reasonable. I keep my Jack Reacher printer around for one reason. It has a scanner.

Alternative Use

What is so important about a Jack Reacher printer with a scanner? In this case, the scanner is on the network. I can use it over wired and wireless networks! The network-capable scanner motivates me to keep this useless printer around for years. I have an excellent duplex sheetfed scanner for other uses, but the Jack Reacher printer/scanner is fantastic for quick ad-hoc scans.

I recently found an app for IOS and Android devices that allows the printer/scanner to be used. In my case, I can scan a document on my phone and email it to someone quite easily. In this case, this page comes to you via this method. Think of it as a modernised fax machine that sends online messages.

Thanks for reading my description of Jack Reacher printers. May they be as valuable to you as they are to me.
